About the position

The Senior Product Manager for Research Applications at Moderna is responsible for leading the product strategy and development of software products that support scientific research within the biotechnology sector. This role combines scientific expertise with digital product management skills to oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scientific goals. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that transform scientific data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a clear vision for software products that support scientific research.
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver products that transform scientific data into actionable insights.
• Manage the product lifecycle from concept through development, deployment, and refinement.
• Craft and maintain product roadmaps, prioritize product features, and balance market needs with practical implementation strategies.
• Translate complex scientific needs into detailed technical requirements for software development.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate product effectiveness and impact on research outcomes.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders to ensure continuous alignment of the product with business needs and user expectations.
• Champion agile methodologies, encouraging iterative development and responsive adjustments based on feedback.
• Serve as the primary communicator and liaison between scientific SMEs and the Digital team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a hard science (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific field).
• 5+ years of experience in product management, specifically in digital products within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
• Demonstrated success in leading product development in a research-focused field.
• Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and product lifecycle management.

Nice-to-haves

• Direct experience as a research scientist in the biotech sector is highly desirable.
• First-hand experience in Product Management operating principles and tools (JIRA, Persona Definitions, Road mapping).
• Proven ability to navigate the complexities of developing software products that comply with scientific needs and requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
• An innovative, problem-solving mindset, with a track record of translating research challenges into successful digital solutions.
