About the position

The Senior Product Marketing Manager for the Public Sector at OwnBackup is a pivotal role within a newly established product marketing function. This position focuses on shaping the go-to-market (GTM) strategy for the company's public sector initiatives, aiming to enhance the visibility and adoption of Own's product portfolio. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in product marketing to develop impactful messaging and positioning that resonates with decision-makers in state, local, and federal agencies, ultimately driving growth in this critical market segment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positioning and messaging that articulates the value of the full portfolio of Own products, tailored to the public sector.
  • Identify urgent priorities for decision-making personas within agencies, and tailor messaging to position Own as a solution to those timely challenges.
  • Work closely with go-to-market teams to understand how well messaging is resonating, and iterate and refine to maximize its impact.
  • Create engaging sales tools and establish ongoing two-way dialogue with sales teams on agency priorities, enabling them to effectively deliver compelling messaging in prospect engagements.
  • Work with campaign managers to help build effective campaigns, and enable them with compelling content.
  • Build focused industry go-to-market plays that deepen our reach with targeted personas and use cases.

Requirements

  • 5 - 8 years of product or solutions/industry marketing experience in B2B software.
  • Some experience in customer-facing roles is a bonus (sales, consulting, business development), as is experience with both product and industry/solutions marketing.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing or professional services roles in the public sector market, with familiarity in government procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in creating compelling positioning and messaging tailored to the public sector.
  • Ability to connect the dots between customers' priorities and technology capabilities, comfortable conversing about both.
  • Skilled storyteller with the ability to develop a strong point of view and refine it based on new information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate successfully with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Skilled at balancing the needs of multiple cross-functional stakeholders while prioritizing overall business objectives.
