About the position

The Red Hat Portfolio Lifecycle Management (PLM) team is looking for a Senior Product Operations Engineer. In this role you will understand how customers use Red Hat products individually and as part of a portfolio solution. Members of the Product Operations Engineering team use their technical expertise and experience to identify and prioritize customer-impacting issues, develop risk mitigation strategies, navigate life cycle changes, and develop repeatable, efficient processes and procedures. A Product Operations Engineer brings their know-how and experience - either from a development, DevOps, or other technical background - to work closely with the Product Management, Engineering, and Quality Engineering to identify and analyze customer trends that need focus, help prioritize product changes, and ensure that customer needs are a key part of product planning. While not primarily a coding or DevOps role, those skills are valuable to apply in order to shape the products that are delivered to our global customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer feedback and trends to highlight to identify business growth opportunities improving customer satisfaction
  • Create or use existing tools to investigate, troubleshoot, and propose remedies for technical issues
  • Develop comprehensive, easy to use, self-service solutions
  • Generate and promote long term strategies for embedding best practices in the product development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Red Hat to drive efficiency in process and change in our products that improve usability
  • Evaluate, share, and improve knowledge content for product technologies

Requirements

  • BS or higher in computer science or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years of experience as a support, sustaining, or development engineer or other directly related experience in an enterprise environment
  • Record of solving complex problems efficiently, and ability to read and write code in 2 or more languages
  • Highly motivated self-learner and ability to work in a team, constantly improving and adapting
  • Ability to work effectively with others and communicate clearly
  • Passionate about technology and customers; committed to providing the best experience possible

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AI/ML, Containers, Python, Relational Databases, and SQL
  • Demonstrated work in open source projects
