About the position

The Senior Product Owner leads and coordinates business and technical projects through all phases of initiation, development, and implementation. This role is crucial in ensuring that sophisticated technical projects, particularly in Long-Term Care (LTC) and Life insurance, are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality targets and business objectives. The Senior Product Owner will work closely with various stakeholders, including Product Owners, Architects, and Engineers, to ensure that all business and technical requirements are met. This position requires a strong focus on project management, risk identification, and mitigation, as well as effective communication with project teams and management. In this role, the Senior Product Owner will be responsible for leading multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed within the established timelines and budgets. This includes identifying resource needs, establishing roles and expectations with team members, and maintaining a governance cadence with partners to report on project performance against critical metrics. The Senior Product Owner will also be tasked with creating well-crafted Jira Stories, Epics, and Tasks that define the scope and ensure a clear definition of done. The ability to think strategically and creatively is essential, as is the capacity for constant learning and adaptation in a rapidly changing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They will be expected to take ownership of their projects, build solutions that focus on customer needs, and contribute positively to project outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Lead and complete sophisticated technical projects with critical interdependencies across multiple partners.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget, schedule, and quality targets while meeting business objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts with Product Owners, Architects, and Engineers to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Identify resource needs for the project and establish roles, expectations, and goals with team members.
  • Call out risks related to project timelines, budgets, and scope.
  • Identify, analyze, mitigate, document, and control project risks.
  • Establish a governance cadence with partners and report on project performance against critical metrics.
  • Advise and handle internal and external resources from multiple locations.
  • Work with partners to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements, and implementation of projects.
  • Provide effective and regular communication within the project team, partners, sponsors, and management.
  • Identify, analyze, mitigate, document, and control project issues and risks that impact project delivery and raise them to management.
  • Track project resources and budgets for the project area.
  • Build and review communication to partners for leadership.
  • Create recommendations for future delivery based on project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience in business flows, project management, data analysis, and digital capabilities.
  • Firm knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience working in LTC & Life or Financial Services.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and meet Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • An ambitious spirit and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Ability to design roadmaps and create well-crafted Jira Stories, Epics, and Tasks.
  • Capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable management through creative abrasion.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes.
