About the position

The Senior Product Owner at Security Benefit Business Services is a pivotal role responsible for driving project execution on software and product delivery. This position requires a deep understanding of the derivatives trade life cycle software applications and the associated business requirements. The Senior Product Owner will manage the scope of projects, help define the IT project plan, and monitor project resources to align with business needs. This role involves liaising with developers and business teams to ensure that product requirements are met and that the software is delivered on time and within budget. In this role, the Senior Product Owner will develop comprehensive product implementation plans and create strategies and roadmaps in collaboration with the trading team, quantitative analysts, the head of derivatives, and other business leaders. A key responsibility will be to identify cost-benefit analyses and return on investment (ROI) for various projects. The Senior Product Owner will also lead team members by mentoring, training, and overseeing project completion, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required standards. Additionally, the Senior Product Owner will maintain a record of software and product functionalities and feature changes, assist in the validation of deliverables against software and product requirements, and work closely with the product engineering team to identify necessary enhancements or modifications. The role will also involve creating user stories and transforming user requirements into actionable features and items for the software development team. Identifying product dependencies and managing downstream impacts across the business unit will be crucial for successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer information systems, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a business analyst, product owner, or product manager in the life insurance and annuities industry.
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL.
