About the position

The Senior Product Owner at Security Benefit Business Services is a pivotal role responsible for driving project execution on software and product delivery. This position requires a deep understanding of the derivatives trade life cycle software applications and the ability to manage project scope effectively. The Senior Product Owner will help define the IT project plan, monitor project resources, and align them with business needs to ensure successful project outcomes. In this role, the Senior Product Owner will collaborate closely with developers and business teams to gather and refine product requirements. They will develop comprehensive product implementation plans and create strategic roadmaps in partnership with the trading team, quantitative analysts, and other business leaders. A key focus will be on identifying cost-benefit analyses and return on investment (ROI) for various initiatives. The Senior Product Owner will also lead and mentor team members, providing training and oversight to ensure project completion. They will maintain detailed records of software and product functionalities, including feature changes, and assist in validating deliverables against software and product requirements. Working with the product engineering team, the Senior Product Owner will identify necessary enhancements and modifications to the software and products. Additionally, they will create user stories and transform user requirements into actionable features for the software development team, while managing product dependencies and downstream impacts across the business unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer information systems, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a business analyst, product owner, or product manager in the life insurance and annuities industry.
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL.
