About the position

The Senior Product Owner, Product Digital Sales at Royal Caribbean Group is a pivotal role responsible for enhancing the electronic distribution tools that facilitate trade bookings. This position is crucial for implementing strategies aimed at reducing guest acquisition costs and improving service efficiency. The Senior Product Owner will primarily focus on optimizing the travel agent shopping and booking experience through various platforms, including Espresso, Flight Finder, VPS (Vacation Package Search), and API (Application Protocol Interface). Additionally, the role encompasses secondary systems that utilize GDS-based tools. The strategies employed will be informed by corporate objectives, market intelligence, travel agent feedback, and ongoing performance metrics. In this role, the Senior Product Owner will develop a strategic roadmap for automation, setting and achieving corporate automation targets while identifying cost-saving tactics. The position entails overseeing the entire lifecycle of designated electronic products, which includes user experience design and quality assurance. The Senior Product Owner will initiate new product development, manage content creation, and oversee the development of site navigation and graphics. Collaboration with various departments such as Marketing, IT, Sales, and Revenue Management is essential to ensure the creative and content strategy aligns with business goals. The Senior Product Owner will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with key partners to leverage automation growth opportunities and trends. This includes coordinating market research, gathering feedback through surveys, and conducting competitive analyses. The role requires effective communication with IT and third-party technology partners, as well as participation in contract negotiations. Additionally, the Senior Product Owner will coordinate product and project launch initiatives across multiple channels, ensuring successful user acceptance testing and ongoing support and maintenance with IT and vendors. Overall, this position is integral to driving product line development, expansion, and termination, ensuring alignment with revenue and cost-saving projections.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic roadmap for Automation.
  • Set and meet corporate automation targets and cost savings tactics.
  • Oversee the entire life cycle of designated electronic product(s) including user experience, design, and QA.
  • Initiate new product development and manage new content including copy, assets, and multimedia.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Global Offices/Markets, IT, Sales, Revenue Management, Trade Support & Service, and vendors to develop creative and content strategy for designated web pages.
  • Coordinate cross-team participation in content/features development and document operational impacts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners to capitalize on automation growth opportunities and trends.
  • Meet revenue and/or cost savings projections.
  • Coordinate with market research focus groups and gather research as required by management.
  • Design and gather site feedback via surveys and conduct competitive analyses, ROI analysis, and feature benefit analysis.
  • Reinforce communication with IT Portfolio Manager and third-party technology partners; participate in contract negotiations as needed.
  • Coordinate product and project launch initiatives including email, print, digital, and social media.
  • Accountable for user acceptance testing (UAT) and overall support and maintenance with IT, third-party partners (GDS), and other vendors.
  • Interpret marketing direction for branding and user experience.
  • Drive and be accountable for product line development, expansion, and termination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree in Marketing or business preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a professional and analytical role and 2 years management experience in a comparable Internet-driven or technology development environment or industry.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce distribution models highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiating skills.
  • Highly organized self-starter able to manage multiple concurrent work streams with high quality deliverables.
