About the position

The Senior Production Planner at STERIS is responsible for managing inventory and shipments by effectively scheduling and analyzing products based on market forecasts and customer orders. This role involves developing production requirements, releasing work orders, and collaborating with various departments to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates the master production plan to meet market forecasts and customer requirements.
  • Loads MRP based on the agreed-upon build plan to manage inventory spend.
  • Escalates build interruptions to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Schedules sales orders in Oracle based on availability and lead-time.
  • Works with Customer Sales Support to resolve scheduling issues and with Manufacturing to address purchasing and production problems.
  • Resolves daily MRP problems, including product structure issues and input errors.
  • Participates in new product implementation and manages Phase-In/Phase-out planning to minimize obsolete inventory.
  • Monitors and reports on production schedule planning and manufacturing accuracy.
  • Develops and maintains procedures and work instructions for master planning.
  • Implements improvements in material requirements planning (MRP) to reduce inventory levels.
  • Maintains and develops standard work, trains team members, and serves as a point of escalation when needed.
  • Provides inputs to demand planning on shipment schedules and forecasts based on capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in supply chain planning, or a High School Diploma with thirteen years of experience in supply chain planning.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Advanced experience with MRP and Master Planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • APICS certification.
  • Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Oracle experience.
