In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing coverage and limit requests, making informed decisions on terms to offer, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will utilize your independent judgment to assess risk quality and initiate appropriate loss prevention actions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with agents, brokers, and producers will be essential as you work to retain existing accounts and develop new business opportunities. Your ability to interpret and market our products and services will be key to achieving divisional objectives. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, along with 5-10 years of related experience in the insurance industry. Coursework toward certifications such as the Associate in Marine Insurance Management or Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is preferred. This position offers a competitive salary range of $115,000.00 - $145,000.00, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Has responsibility for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives.
  • Uses independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
  • Maintains a high level of customer service.
  • Analyzes coverage and limit requests and decides what terms to offer.
  • Prices business in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions.
  • Orders and screens miscellaneous reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, such as loss history reports, credit checks, loss control inspections, vessel surveys etc.
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Visits agents, brokers, and producers to retain existing accounts, build and maintain business relationships, and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives.
  • Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
  • Applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Beginning coursework toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Marine Insurance Management or Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
