The Senior Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in coordinating complex research programs, particularly in the field of neurology. This position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including coordinating research grant activities and experimental designs across various research labs and scientific staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, promotion, direction, and coordination of assigned programs, which includes program design, budget management, staffing, logistics, and other supportive functions. The role requires the development and implementation of new research strategies for specific projects, as well as identifying and resolving scientific and technical problems. The program manager will also be tasked with generating new ideas that promote current research within the assigned program areas and advising on policy related to major programs. This position requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to work with limited oversight. The Senior Program Coordinator will serve as a liaison with other research programs, offices, and departments to ensure that research program objectives are met. This includes interfacing with external organizations to enhance cooperative efforts and utilize available resources effectively. The coordinator will manage ongoing funded research projects, ensuring their timely and accurate completion. Responsibilities also include preparing and issuing reports, analyzing findings, and presenting recommendations. The coordinator will prepare grant applications, manage the status of grants, and identify new funding opportunities to enhance the research mission of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (CEC). Additionally, the role involves budget management, program support, scheduling, and coordinating various activities and events related to the research programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and the capability to manage multiple tasks under pressure. This position is integral to the success of the research initiatives at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and the coordinator will be expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing development of the CEC's research programs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate research grant activity and experimental design between various research labs, scientific staff, and collaborators.
  • Develop, promote, direct, and coordinate assigned programs, including program design, budget, staffing, and logistics.
  • Develop and implement new research strategies for specific projects.
  • Identify and resolve scientific and technical problems.
  • Generate new ideas that promote current research within assigned program areas.
  • Advise on policy related to assigned major programs and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison with other research programs, offices, and departments to coordinate research program business.
  • Prepare and issue reports, analyze findings/data, and present recommendations.
  • Prepare grant applications and manage the status of grants and proposal submissions.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and sources for research grants.
  • Participate in the development and administration of program budgets.
  • Work with Division leadership to recruit, hire, train, and supervise clerical and administrative staff, trainees, and volunteers.
  • Organize and coordinate schedules, activities, and special events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible related experience including program/project coordination or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Effective oral, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and project manage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS is preferred.
  • Possesses a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment to facilitate planning and organizing extensive scientific research programs.
