About the position

The Senior Program Manager for Community Engagement at DTE Energy is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring the company's Community Engagement strategy. This role aims to enhance DTE's credibility and reputation within the communities it serves. The manager will develop recommendations for program enhancements, cultivate relationships with external stakeholders, and represent DTE at various events. The position requires collaboration with internal teams to ensure organizational goals are met and involves continuous improvement of community engagement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the implementation of strategic and tactical activities for the Community Engagement program.
  • Initiate new ideas and challenge current practices with sound alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define scope, establish and monitor program goals and metrics, and prepare business cases for significant changes.
  • Lead and work with cross-functional teams within Community Engagement and external organizations.
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement principles to develop and implement programs and improve processes.
  • Analyze existing projects through reviews to determine improvements or recommendations for expansion or phase-out.
  • Represent Community Engagement at cross-functional meetings and external events.
  • Lead the development of presentations for Senior Management.
  • Mentor less experienced Community Engagement employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of job relevant experience.
  • Extensive network connections in Wayne County, Michigan.
  • Experience working with cities and local government on advocacy and engagement efforts.
  • Excellent partnership building skills.
  • Consulting, influencing, and negotiating skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multifaceted projects across multiple environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to think strategically and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills including MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, project management software, and MS SharePoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community engagement or public relations roles.
  • Familiarity with energy sector policies and regulations.
