About the position

The Senior Program Manager I, MSD at the National Safety Council (NSC) plays a crucial role in developing and executing programs aimed at reducing musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. This position involves project management, outreach, and relationship management to enhance the impact of NSC's initiatives and ensure effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Define the main objectives of the projects, their purpose, and the scope.
  • Create integrated and ongoing project plans including key deliverables and milestones.
  • Execute the work or assign work as part of the project plan.
  • Monitor and control the processes/tasks associated with the project.
  • Provide knowledge, education, and awareness of NSC products/services to diverse populations.
  • Write articles, blogs, or similar outreach documents for print or online publications.
  • Participate in trade shows or other similar events to promote NSC programs.
  • Engage in regular communication and build relationships with peers, supervisors, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Support an environment that appreciates diversity of employees' and stakeholders' styles, opinions, and perspectives.
  • Communicate with other NSC initiatives to identify potential dissemination and cross-collaboration opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or at least 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Understanding of marketing and communication strategies development and execution.
  • Understanding of event management tactics.
  • Advanced understanding of EHS practices and systems management.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills to turn research-based strategies into public communications.
  • Experience working with executive-level EHS professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Internet computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in writing for print or online publications.
  • Familiarity with public policy, legislative issues, and regulatory influences.
