About the position

The Senior Program Manager, Portfolio Growth at Battelle Memorial Institute is responsible for providing senior leadership and management to complex programs with significant client and organizational impact. This role involves overseeing multi-year programs or a portfolio of programs, requiring coordination across various teams and divisions. The position focuses on strategic program planning, execution, and client relationship management to drive business growth and ensure successful program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes major program oversight and reporting processes that integrate cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Oversees development of major program and portfolio plans, including strategic business plans and program execution support.
  • Manages cost, schedule, and performance for major Business Unit programs, ensuring adherence to baseline agreements.
  • Develops and manages program and portfolio performance metrics to control execution and align with strategic plans.
  • Proactively communicates with clients to clarify requirements and assess implementation progress, building strong client relationships.
  • Identifies high growth opportunities and develops capture plans to win follow-on programs.
  • Contributes to business development and proposal activities, formulating win strategies and coordinating proposal teams.
  • Directs systems engineering and technical tradeoff studies to specify cost-effective program solutions.
  • Guides project managers in using configuration management and control processes for project changes.
  • Recruits and selects program and project managers, providing mentorship and leadership.
  • Represents Battelle to senior leadership in client organizations, preparing and presenting updates on program status.
  • Integrates safety policies into program plans and ensures compliance with safety assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education/experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong leadership and management skills in complex program environments.
  • Experience in strategic program planning and execution.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and influence program direction.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP Certification highly preferred.
