About the position

The Senior Program Manager at the NYC Mayor's Office of Equity & Racial Justice (MOERJ) will oversee a portfolio of innovative programs aimed at serving New York City's diverse LGBTQ+ community. This role involves providing executive support to the Director, managing program development and implementation, coordinating interagency efforts, and fostering community engagement. The position requires strong organizational skills, cultural competency, and the ability to work collaboratively across various stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key point of contact for the Director, providing comprehensive administrative and managerial support.
  • Coordinate meetings, liaise with external partners, and lead interagency convenings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and the development of new programs, practices, policies, and communications.
  • Create marketing materials and spearhead internal and external community engagement.
  • Engage with city agency liaisons to develop and design innovative programs and initiatives.
  • Manage the entire program lifecycle, from concept development and budget planning to implementation and evaluation.
  • Foster strong working relationships with agency partners and support partner engagement.
  • Ensure that all parties are on track to meet critical program milestones.
  • Develop and oversee a Grant program, including concept development, budgeting, and monitoring.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing among city agencies.
  • Establish strong relationships with community-based partners and advocacy groups.
  • Manage marketing and promotion of Unity Project programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and at least four to five (4-5) years of professional experience, OR an advanced degree and two to three (2-3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in program management, including administering government-funded contracts and overseeing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Cultural competency in working with the LGBTQ+ community, including prior experience and connections to LGBTQ+ organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to creatively design, communicate, and market timely information to the public.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred prior government experience and/or significant experience in the nonprofit, education, or social services sector.
  • Ability to work across diverse communities, including racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual diversity.
