About the position

The Senior Programmer Analyst (Big Data & Reporting) role at SG Americas Operational Services, LLC involves designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions within Microsoft Azure environments. The position focuses on working with distributed systems to manage large volumes of data, troubleshooting performance issues, and ensuring production stability. The analyst will engage in pair programming, write and test code, and collaborate with the Product Owner to refine customer requests into actionable stories.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement technical solutions in Microsoft Azure environments.
• Work with distributed systems like Spark, ADLS, and Eventhub to handle large volumes of data.
• Troubleshoot performance issues by analyzing Spark DAGs and PostgreSQL execution plans.
• Support the deconstruction of customer requests into detailed stories by interacting with the Product Owner.
• Deliver working code that meets acceptance criteria and the definition of done at various levels.
• Write code, deploy scripts, and conduct unit tests.
• Monitor delivery pipeline activity to ensure product quality and consistency.
• Conduct testing, deployment, and production activities to ensure production stability.
• Engage in pair programming to write high-quality, maintainable code.
• Write unit tests using Junit, Mockito, and BDD style with Cucumber.
• Participate in backlog refinement and planning sessions to discuss and estimate upcoming stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience as a Programmer Analyst, Software Developer, or similar role involving distributed systems in an international financial IT environment.
• 5 years of experience working with distributed systems using tools like Spark, Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Synapse, and CosmosDB.
• 5 years of experience utilizing orchestration tools such as UC4 One Automation and Airflow.
• 5 years of experience performing Change and Release management.
• 5 years of experience working with Back Office systems (GMI, Shadow, Murex, Xone) and reporting systems (SAP BO, SSIS, SSRS).
• 5 years of experience utilizing Cloud technology (AWS or Azure) and Big Data technology (Spark, Hive, Avro, Parquet).
• 5 years of experience in relational database development (Oracle PL/SQL and MS SQL Server).
• 5 years of experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party RESTful APIs.
