About the position

The Senior Project Accountant position at a prominent global Architectural firm in Midtown New York is a critical role that involves ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of financial, project, and management reporting data. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining Initial Budget Worksheets and Plans, which are essential for the financial health of the projects. This role requires setting up new projects in the ERP system and reviewing contracts and proposals to ensure compliance and accuracy. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Project Accountant will ensure the timeliness and accuracy of fees and expenses billed to clients. This includes fee forecasting, which involves budget to actual comparisons to monitor financial performance. The role also entails reviewing and approving all consultant invoices, including a thorough review of unbilled expenses to ensure that all financial transactions are accounted for correctly. The position will assist in the billing and accounts receivable processes, including the production of monthly invoices to clients and supporting the accounts receivable position in collections and cash application. The Senior Project Accountant will also handle quarterly and annual closings as they relate to revenue recognition, ensuring that all financial reporting is completed accurately and on time. Additional ad hoc responsibilities may arise, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial, project, and management reporting data
  • Prepare, review, and maintain Initial Budget Worksheets and Plans
  • Set up new projects in ERP system, review contracts and proposals
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of fees and expenses billed to clients
  • Fee Forecasting, including budget to actual comparisons
  • Review and approve all consultant invoices, including reviews of unbilled expenses
  • Assist in production of monthly invoices to clients
  • Assist AR position in collections and applying cash
  • Handle quarterly and annual closings as they relate to revenue recognition
  • Perform additional ad hoc responsibilities as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Experience in the professional services industry, especially Architecture and Engineering is a plus
  • Familiarity with various ERP systems and strong Excel skills
  • Experience with Deltek Vision is a huge plus
  • Detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and possess great communication skills
