About the position
The Senior Project Architect at CDM Smith plays a crucial role in overseeing and guiding the architectural design process for various projects, including water and wastewater facilities, transit and industrial facilities, and more. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. The architect will also be responsible for client interactions, project budgeting, and quality control of architectural work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and work with junior staff to plan, program, and formulate building design and prepare design presentation and construction contract documents.
- Develop building design criteria directly with clients and lead preparation of presentation materials.
- Lead development and coordination of building design and construction contract documents with architectural and multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Mentor project architects and junior architectural staff on multi-discipline projects.
- Determine construction materials, technologies, and methodologies for detailing.
- Prepare and edit technical specifications.
- Confirm compliance with applicable planning, zoning, and building codes and regulations, including coordination with agencies having jurisdiction.
- Serve as Quality Control and independent reviewer for other architects' work.
- Lead development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external, and monitor projects through close out.
- Support sales, meet with clients, and serve as a Project Technical Lead for Architectural driven projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- 11 years of related experience, with RA certification required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
