About the position

The Senior Project Associate II - Nursing Retention Coach at St. Louis Community College is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the retention of nursing students. This role focuses on addressing social and academic barriers that students face, utilizing a systemic approach that incorporates various resources within the college and the community. The position aims to foster a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion within the nursing program, ultimately contributing to the success of students and the quality of the nursing workforce in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor student progress continuously to implement proactive intervention strategies for student success.
  • Meet with students individually and in groups to assist with learning issues, financial barriers, and life obstacles affecting their progress in the nursing program.
  • Foster student success by developing skills in organization, time management, study plans, and test preparation tailored to individual learning styles.
  • Assist students in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, learning strategies, and communication skills to improve classroom and clinical success.
  • Identify and address policies and procedures that create barriers to student success, collaborating with faculty, staff, and nursing organizations to resolve these issues.
  • Lead the Nursing Retention Committee in a holistic, district-wide approach to identify and address barriers impacting student retention and success.
  • Collaborate with key departments to support student perseverance and improve graduation rates in the nursing program.
  • Attend professional development sessions and stay informed on current trends in education and nursing student retention.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify barriers and develop strategies to enhance student success.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
