About the position

The Senior Project Design Manager at Blue Heron is responsible for leading and managing multiple custom residential design build projects from conception to completion. This role serves as the primary client contact and ensures the effective delivery of high-quality design and construction deliverables. The position requires coordination with various internal and external teams to meet client expectations and budget while maintaining exceptional client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple custom residential design build projects from conception to completion.
  • Coordinate and manage workflows associated with the delivery of design and construction deliverables.
  • Interface with clients and collaborate with resource teams including sales, design, construction, and engineering.
  • Ensure exceptional client experience and report on process and status to leadership.
  • Support AUTOCAD/REVIT drawing production and document preparation for multiple projects.
  • Interact professionally with clients throughout the design and construction process.
  • Contract engineering consultants and coordinate internal architecture deliverables with various construction drawings.
  • Conduct site, zoning, and HOA/DRB analysis and oversight for projects.
  • Provide initial design guidelines and conduct schematic design reviews with the building department.
  • Manage construction administration tasks including RFIs, submittals, and field bulletins.
  • Work closely with the Construction Manager and engage in periodic field visits.
  • Develop project budgets in collaboration with estimating and purchasing departments.
  • Lead value engineering efforts when design and budget are misaligned.
  • Oversee the permit process and administrative construction duties, ensuring quality construction and adherence to standards.
  • Provide QAQC for all aspects during the design process and coordinate reviews with design teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of residential or hospitality architectural experience.
  • Professional Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Architect or on track for Architectural licensure.
  • Strong construction knowledge and understanding of construction processes, terminology, and codes.
  • Permit experience and knowledge of applicable building and municipal codes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide direction and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • General understanding of construction costs and value engineering techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAD/REVIT/SketchUp as related to architectural/engineering drawings.
