MassDOT Aeronautics' overall mission is to make air transportation safer, cleaner, more efficient, and more economically advantageous for the people, communities, and businesses of Massachusetts. Aeronautics employs the highest standards in safety, planning, engineering, and financial management to regulate and promote air transportation in the Commonwealth. The Agency oversees 35 of the State's 38 public-use airports, supports economic development and job growth, reduces aviation's environmental impact, facilitates the adoption and use of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS/drones) in the Commonwealth, and explores the introduction of advanced aviation systems. The Project Engineer / Project Manager will be integral member of the MassDOT Aeronautics Engineering Team and will report to the Chief Engineer. The Project Engineer / Project Manager will work closely with the engineering team as well as our planning and environmental teams to ensure that we have completed all required planning and environmental permitting prior to project implementation. The Engineering Team supports our public-use airports with grant funding for capital improvement projects including runways, taxiway, aprons, navigational aids, lighting, signage, markings, pavement maintenance, terminal building, air traffic control towers, and administration buildings. The Project Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination and analysis of airspace review requests. MassDOT Aeronautics manages 40-70 projects each fiscal year.
