About the position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Engineer specializing in Civil/Site projects. This role involves utilizing leadership and engineering skills to perform design tasks and manage support staff, focusing on grading and drainage designs for Pennsylvania development projects. The engineer will collaborate with staff engineers using AutoCAD to ensure projects are completed within budget, deadlines, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations.
  • Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including utility service research and site visits to establish development guidelines.
  • Prepare concept drawings based on client objectives and due diligence findings, coordinating with AutoCAD draftsmen.
  • Lead the review and design of Stormwater Management and Conveyance Systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
  • Prepare pipe sizing calculations for stormwater systems, including drainage area maps and hydraulic evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with stormwater management design regulations at the county and municipal levels in Pennsylvania.
  • Conduct grading design to achieve value engineering and site safety through appropriate design slopes.
  • Design utility systems including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, and pump stations, resolving utility conflicts.
  • Design soil erosion and sediment control measures, including stability calculations and Best Management Practices.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings for bonding and client purposes.
  • Work independently and lead other engineers in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 6+ years of residential and/or commercial civil land development work experience.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning processes and regulations (NJ).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and site development designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts from concept to completion.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
