About the position

Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their Education and Public Sector team in Dallas, TX. The role involves assisting the Project Manager in planning and executing construction projects, managing project schedules, budgets, and subcontractor compliance. The Senior Project Engineer will ensure timely delivery of materials and maintain project documentation, all while fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager with planning and daily execution of construction projects.
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets as assigned by the Project Manager.
  • Manage the process of submittal approvals and coordinate timely delivery of materials.
  • Oversee subcontractor compliance with Contract Documents as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Proactively manage the project budget by controlling expenses and administering billings.
  • Establish procedures for controlling contract drawings and assist with bid package development.
  • Manage pre-work subcontractor orientation meetings and ensure documentation is completed.
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and assist in quality management.
  • Attend meetings with Architect/Engineer and owner representatives, providing necessary information.
  • Submit owner-required close-out documents and assist in scheduling training.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 2 to 4 years of experience preferred, or 5 to 6 years of progressive construction-related trade experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct others effectively.
  • Proficient in creating and managing project schedules and related assignments.
  • Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines and with incomplete information.
  • Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, with a focus on integrity and company values.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other communication tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction industry, particularly in education and public sector projects.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
