About the position

The Senior Project Engineer - Electrical Renewables at Mott MacDonald is responsible for leading and managing technical documentation and project activities for utility-scale solar projects. This role involves providing engineering guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from development to commissioning, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality requirements. The position requires collaboration with a team of engineers and designers, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the development of internal engineering standards and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, review, and management of technical documentation for utility scale solar projects.
  • Manage projects through design and construction including RFI response, equipment submittal reviews, and coordination meetings.
  • Provide owners engineering guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle from development to commissioning.
  • Produce thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings.
  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of work activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
  • Review the design work completed by peers and ensure compliance with scope and QA/QC requirements.
  • Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department.
  • Contribute to continual development of internal solar engineering standards, tools, and work processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering within the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on solar utility scale projects.
  • Significant knowledge of electrical engineering with at least 10 years of professional experience.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited institution.
  • Professional Registration: (PE) required.
  • Experience with electrical engineering and solar design software applications.
