About the position

The Senior Project Engineer position at Air Products is a critical role within the Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group, located onsite in Gonzales, LA. This position involves leading capital projects, managing engineering and construction resources, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards. The role requires a strong focus on project management, safety compliance, and effective communication with various stakeholders. The Senior Project Engineer will also be responsible for developing project estimates, schedules, and maintaining budgetary controls while providing field supervision during project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned capital projects and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources.
  • Develop estimates, funding documents, schedule, and ongoing forecasts for plant executed projects within SAP.
  • Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and that all recommendations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all project designs.
  • Provide field supervision/support during project execution.
  • Manage Project Safety and maintain projects on budget and schedule.
  • Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.
  • Conduct Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and operations team prior to project execution.
  • Complete JSA reviews and fill out JSA Review form daily during project execution.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.

Requirements

  • 3-10 years' experience in maintenance and/or engineering disciplines.
  • Technical degree (chemical engineering or mechanical engineering preferred).
  • Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects experience.
  • High ethical standards regarding worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to influence decision-making processes within business areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Obtain TWIC, passport and pass refinery background checks.
  • Achieve various State mandated certifications (TWIC, OSHA, etc.).
