About the position

The Senior Project Engineer - Plant at Veolia North America is responsible for managing capital programs related to water and wastewater projects, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion. This role involves collaboration with engineering and operations teams, focusing on project performance metrics, compliance with technical and environmental standards, and stakeholder satisfaction. The engineer will oversee significant financial investments in projects, manage direct reports, and ensure adherence to corporate guidelines and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage $10 - $20M of water/wastewater programs annually, including project identification and priority evaluation.
  • Manage the development of technical, bidding, and contractual documents in accordance with corporate engineering guidelines.
  • Ensure corporate Technical and Environmental Health and Safety/Security standards are incorporated into design specifications.
  • Work directly with the Operations group to understand their needs in meeting operational, compliance, and health & safety goals.
  • Manage environmental and governmental permitting in coordination with local business unit staff.
  • Support the oversight of construction management personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments and budget compliance.
  • Drive efficiency into project delivery through monitoring of delivery metrics and utilizing alternate procurement and delivery methods.
  • Provide monthly reports to management regarding the financial and progress status of capital projects.
  • Participate in the development of engineering design and delivery processes and standards.
  • Provide technical expertise on engineering and operational issues and support facility condition assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process, Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing water/wastewater design and construction projects.
  • Strong project management skills including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects.
  • Thorough working knowledge of water and wastewater process applications.
  • Superior personal effectiveness skills and visible leadership by example.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
  • Experience utilizing alternate project delivery methods and contracting methods.
  • Ability to manage several small and mid-size projects simultaneously.
  • Computer skills including MS Project, Google Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft, and Oracle Hyperion.
  • Financial analysis skills including budget management and project risk assessment.
