About the position

The Senior Project Engineer - Process & Mechanical at Wacker Chemical Corporation is responsible for providing project engineering and management services related to capital investment projects across all WACKER sites in the NCA region. This role involves coordinating work processes, interfacing with various departments and contractors, and ensuring compliance with legal and safety regulations. The engineer will also conduct assessments, optimize processes, and manage project tasks from planning to execution, all while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall success of the projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project engineering and project management services for capital investment projects.
  • Target and prioritize tasks in project execution.
  • Coordinate work processes and interface with other departments and external contractors.
  • Estimate, review, and edit the effects of future projects in terms of business objectives.
  • Conduct assessments of technical results and compliance with legal and internal guidelines.
  • Process and implement all legal, economic, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Execute pre-engineering concepts, studies, alternatives, and strategies.
  • Evaluate process optimization, simulations, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct overall engineering and project management tasks including planning, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required; chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in project management, project engineering, or plant/production engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles, relevant codes, and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and process hazard analysis (PHA).
  • Ability to develop and maintain process flow diagrams (PFD) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
  • Ability to create equipment datasheets and specifications according to ASME and API codes.
  • Ability to design piping systems according to ASME 31.3 including stress analysis and hydraulic calculations.
  • Knowledge of pressure relief device design according to API 520 and API 521.
  • Ability to create scopes of work (SOW) packages for engineering and construction services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee is desired, but not required.
