About the position

The Senior Project Engineer at The Middlesex Corporation is responsible for overseeing and managing engineering and technical tasks throughout the lifecycle of complex heavy civil construction projects. This role involves collaboration with project management, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety on-site. The engineer will play a critical role in the leadership and successful delivery of multimillion-dollar projects, ensuring all engineering aspects are executed according to plan.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with and actively promote all Safety policies and procedures, reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Direct oversight of assigned field engineers.
  • Provide technical support for the Field Superintendent.
  • Receive, review, and submit shop drawings.
  • Address correspondence and review with the Project Manager.
  • Provide delivery support for the Field Superintendents.
  • Conduct technical reviews of work in the field to ensure specification compliance.
  • Advise the Project Manager of potential change orders or claims.
  • Coordinate and monitor long lead items that are schedule significant.
  • Reevaluate means and methods as necessary.
  • Oversee technical drawings for structural steel, concrete work, and rebar.
  • Conduct field visits with QA/QC to manufacturers of long lead items as determined by the schedule requirements.
  • Lead responsibility during the submittal process.

Requirements

  • Four-year engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Office and BlueBeam; preferred experience with HCSS HeavyJob, Vista, CAD, P6.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil construction industry practices and standards.
  • Ability to access all parts of a construction site in various climates and environments.
  • Valid Driver's License.
