About the position

The Senior Project Engineer at Environmental Partners is responsible for the technical supervision of complex projects, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, budget, and schedule. This role involves maintaining client relationships, developing technical proposals, and mentoring junior staff. The position requires a strong engineering background and the ability to manage project performance effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of projects.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, and contracts.
  • Monitor project performance within prescribed budgets on a weekly basis.
  • Develop and negotiate scopes, fees, and schedules with sub-consultants.
  • Develop technical solutions for complex projects using engineering knowledge.
  • Report on project progress and identify additional work outside the contractual scope.
  • Serve as the Technical Lead for complex projects, coordinating with other design disciplines and subcontractors.
  • Supervise and train less experienced staff, providing guidance and checking their work.
  • Develop technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals.
  • Maintain quality control by reviewing designs and checking calculations.
  • Coordinate and attend client meetings, preparing presentations on project deliverables.
  • Lead construction administration tasks and provide updates to the Project Manager.
  • Understand contract terms and conditions, advising the Project Manager of concerns.
  • Participate in external associations and professional conferences, presenting technical papers.
  • Identify areas of potential claims and prepare documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a Master's Degree in the same field.
  • 6 years of experience with increasing responsibility, or 5 years with a Master's Degree.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or working towards licensure within one year.
