About the position

The Senior Project Engineer at Q-Lab Corporation is responsible for designing, building, and testing prototypes while managing multiple engineering projects focused on new product development, design improvements, and cost reductions. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering and project management, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fully onsite environment in Westlake, OH.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple engineering projects including new product developments, design improvements, and cost reductions
• Plan and manage project requirements, technical risks, deliverables, and timelines
• Design, build, and test prototypes to validate performance versus requirements
• Document work effectively (engineering reports, test instructions, engineering change notices)

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10 to 20+ years of proven record in a product development and/or manufacturing environment
• Advanced proficiency in 3D design skills and design translation
• Deep domain expertise in one or more core areas: mechanical design, rapid prototyping, sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, fiberglass, fabrication processes, heaters, motors, pumps, filtration, air handling, etc.
• Demonstrated design skills to meet requirements for safety, performance, reliability and manufacturability
• Strong project management experience across large and small scope projects
• Proven organizational and time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities

• Experience and demonstrated proficiency in working with suppliers and outside contract resources to deliver project objectives
• Microsoft Inventor, Vault
• Finite element modeling and analysis (mechanical, thermal, flow)
• LEAN manufacturing methodology
• Data analysis, statistics, six sigma methodology
• Structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting and problem solving
