About the position

As a Senior Engineer at LEO A DALY, you will lead and perform engineering design for mechanical systems, focusing on HVAC, piping, and controls for various architectural and engineering projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers, ensuring high-quality technical services, and coordinating multidisciplinary efforts throughout all project phases. You will also engage in client interactions, oversee project documentation, and mentor junior staff, all while contributing to innovative and sustainable design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform engineering design for mechanical systems related to HVAC, piping, and controls.
  • Manage the comprehensive development of mechanical engineering design during all project phases.
  • Serve as a technical expert within the mechanical engineering team to plan the design process and solve complex problems.
  • Assist Project Managers with fee development for mechanical engineering work.
  • Establish, design, and specify mechanical engineering requirements for projects.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of Mechanical Engineers, EITs, and Designers.
  • Attend client meetings and communicate with various stakeholders during project development.
  • Conduct site investigations and observations.
  • Prepare narratives, reports, calculations, and drawing documents with high quality.
  • Facilitate cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
  • Review mechanical engineering documents for quality and compliance with codes.
  • Participate in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
  • Mentor and coach junior professionals and designers.
  • Develop training and educational opportunities for the mechanical engineering team.
  • Assess and recommend improvements for mechanical engineering processes and software.
  • Engage in marketing and business development activities, including client relationship building.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis or a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering within the A/E industry.
  • Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards (Energy, LEED, ASHRAE, etc.).
  • Production experience supervising the preparation of deliverable drawing sets in Revit MEP.
  • Proficiency in using load, system sizing, and energy modeling software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to direct, lead, and coach a production team of mechanical engineers and designers.

  • Large project experience in healthcare work is preferred.
