About the position

The Senior Project Engineer at Smyth Industries plays a crucial role in the water and reclamation industry, focusing on planning, supervising, designing, and maintaining construction projects. This position is essential for enhancing the team's capabilities and ensuring the successful execution of various water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will foster teamwork and create a positive work environment while working closely with clients to engineer and rehabilitate water distribution and treatment infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional engineering and project management on a variety of waterworks projects simultaneously, from conception through completion.
  • Develop project schedules, monitor project progress and budget, prepare and maintain project files, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communicate effectively and represent the company in meetings and presentations to clients and governmental agencies.
  • Negotiate and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Lead the project team to execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Oversee the technical work products of staff and field engineers.
  • Coordinate with clients and project teams to develop project proposals, work plans, and budgets.
  • Confirm adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress and reviewing construction projects for quality.
  • Assign, direct, train, and review the work of engineers and para-professional employees.
  • Participate in professional and technical training opportunities for staff.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/construction engineering or any relevant degree.
  • Arizona Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Civil/Construction Engineering.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to physically perform all required duties, including lifting 50-pound objects and working outdoors.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.
  • Master's or advanced degree in civil/construction engineering or any relevant degree.
  • 3+ years Project Management experience.
  • Water System Planning and Modeling Experience.
  • Experience in Procore and Primavera scheduling software.
  • Change management experience.
  • Experience leading coworkers.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
