About the position

The Senior Project Financial Analyst at MITRE will support the Sector Program Finance Team by providing financial oversight and strategic business decision support to Project Leaders and Department Managers. This role involves managing the financial health of direct projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and enhancing operational efficiency through best practices in financial management. The position is hybrid, based in either McLean, Virginia or Bedford, Massachusetts, and is integral to maximizing MITRE's value to government sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Produce financial contractual deliverable requirements (CDRL) reports for the government, ensuring completion within deadlines.
  • Review contract modifications and ensure accurate entry in the Contract Lifecycle Management tool.
  • Provide full-lifecycle financial support for direct work programs, including budgeting, resource management, and contract closeout.
  • Support pricing and estimating activities for new projects or change orders.
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with FAR, CAS, and MITRE finance policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within Program Finance and Business Leadership to support Project Leaders and Department Managers.
  • Coordinate across functional areas to ensure timely and accurate delivery of contractual obligations.
  • Increase financial literacy among Project Leaders and gather feedback on tools and reporting requirements.
  • Utilize best practices in financial processes and drive operational improvements.
  • Prepare and deliver analytics to assist leadership in decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of finance and/or accounting experience, or a Master's with 3 years of related experience, preferably within the US Government.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and core functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent work streams while maintaining high quality output.
  • Strong attention to detail and a resourceful self-starter mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exceptional knowledge of different contract types (CPFF, Fixed Price, T&M).
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Cognos Analytics.
  • Understanding of indirect rates and cost allocations.
  • Ability to work with large data sets to produce reliable reports.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
