About the position

The Senior Project Interior Designer at AtkinsRéalis is responsible for leading interior design projects, ensuring they meet client needs while adhering to safety and code compliance. This role involves collaborating with various teams, managing project scopes, and mentoring junior staff. The position is part of a career leadership track, offering opportunities for professional growth within a globally respected design and engineering consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and take full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating project assignments.
  • Conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout, concept designs, and lighting design.
  • Create innovative design concepts that are practical, safe, and code compliant, meeting project goals and budget.
  • Make timely design and technical decisions in collaboration with the architectural team.
  • Select materials, furniture, finishes, and fixtures, including interior lighting, and estimate material requirements and preliminary costs.
  • Present professionally to clients and maintain a 'seller-doer' approach, preparing and conducting client presentations.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of furniture systems and emerging trends in architectural interiors.
  • Help build, develop, and manage a growing interior design team.
  • Lead development of designs and sketches into Revit-based construction documents.
  • Produce a complete set of construction documents in BIM.
  • Mentor project teams to produce complete design and construction documents.
  • Redline documents for production using BlueBeam or similar software.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, sub-consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of information in project documents.
  • Provide status reports of progress on architectural interior documents to Sr. Architects/Project Managers.
  • Maintain and coordinate project BIM model and ensure compliance with construction document standards.
  • Inspect architectural features in the field and assess existing conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant work experience in all phases of interior design and technical detailing.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as BIM/Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • NCIDQ Certification and/or architecture certification, licensed in at least one state.
  • LEED AP certification is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of national building codes, life safety codes, and ADA compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead presentations and collaborate with teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
