About the position

The Senior Project Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated technical and business projects to ensure goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and budget. This role involves developing and managing project plans, specifying work breakdown, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and vendor activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects consistent with ERCOT Corporate Standards, Operating Procedures, and department processes.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, risk/issue management, change controls, and project administration.
  • Promote a culture of early risk mitigation and accountability within project teams.
  • Develop project plans specifying milestones, tasks, start/end durations, and resource allocations.
  • Manage the work of the project team to ensure timely completion of project activities within budget.
  • Coordinate vendor activities to ensure alignment with the Statement of Work.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams responsible for all aspects of a project.
  • Monitor metrics to track team performance against schedule expectations and budget.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively to management and project owners.
  • Create and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project Online.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
  • Minimum 6 years as Project Manager on large-scale projects.
  • Experience with project schedule creation and maintenance using Microsoft Project Online or Project Server.
  • Experience with project reporting using Microsoft Project Online and Power BI.
  • Minimum 2 years in a program manager role (preferred).
  • Experience with task assignment and tracking using JIRA (preferred).
  • Detailed understanding of the ERCOT energy, market, and utility business (preferred).
  • Software project management experience.
  • Must have Waterfall experience.

  • Electrical market experience (preferred).
  • Master's Degree in relevant fields (preferred).
  • PMP Project Management Professional certification (highly preferred).
  • PgMP Program Management Professional certification (preferred).
  • PMI-ACP Agile Certified Professional certification (preferred).
  • CSM Certified Scrum Master certification (preferred).
