About the position

At Haley & Aldrich, a 900+ person national engineering and environmental consulting firm, we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to oversee site-civil and large earthwork/solid waste projects, as well as geo-environmental assessments related to site development, heavy industry, and solid waste management associated with Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR). This role is crucial for managing complex projects and requires a creative professional who can work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and adaptable problem solver capable of integrating data in real-time to develop solutions that meet evolving regulatory and client demands. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be expected to operate with minimal oversight, solving problems, creating technically accurate reports and project documents, and managing technical/engineering teams. The role is full-time and will be based out of our Cleveland, OH office. In this position, you will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and nationwide company offices, managing and assisting project teams in developing and executing technical approaches to problem-solving. This includes preparing design-phase documents, obtaining project permits, and implementing remedial construction. You will also be responsible for preparing proposals, project technical reports, and regulatory compliance submissions, as well as managing CCR closure and groundwater remedial alternatives assessments and cost analyses. Your role will involve administering construction-phase engineering support, managing construction field inspection, and ensuring construction quality assurance (CQA) activities are met. Building and maintaining trusted client relationships will be essential, as will coordinating with client representatives and regulatory stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and nationwide company offices and client/project locations.
  • Manage and assist project teams in developing and executing technical approaches to problem-solving, specifically as related to preparing design-phase documents, obtaining project permits, and implementing remedial construction.
  • Prepare proposals and statement of qualification packages, project technical reports/deliverables, and regulatory compliance submissions.
  • Manage and develop CCR closure and groundwater remedial alternatives assessments and cost analyses, remedial action work plans, and construction cost estimates under specific states' regulatory programs.
  • Manage and implement pre-design site investigations, design-phase documents (engineering design drawing sets and associated specifications), permitting, and remedial construction.
  • Administer construction-phase engineering support including submittals review, contractor pay requisitions, change order requests and requests for information.
  • Manage construction field inspection and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities.
  • Understand client needs and support project principals to build and maintain trusted client relationships.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, and regulatory and external stakeholders.
  • Manage financial and technical aspects of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 15+ years of relevant technical experience including preparation of site-civil design and technical specifications for site-civil/earthen structure projects.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to technical details.
  • Experience in permitting, selecting remedial technologies, and implementing remedial designs including field engineering and construction inspection.
  • Experience with the investigation and remediation of CCR, energy generation sites is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient at writing, reviewing, and editing technical reports to meet scope and quality objectives and client expectations.
  • Familiarity with earthwork, site-civil, geotechnical, stormwater aspects of residential/commercial/industrial projects is required.
  • Project management experience on comprehensive site-civil development and large earthwork projects required.
