About the position

The Senior Project Manager for Commercial/Hospitality Construction is a pivotal role within a highly respected local General Contractor based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the successful execution of commercial and industrial projects. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about construction and possesses a strong sense of accountability. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the executive team to optimize growth potential and contribute to the strategic objectives of the company. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will lead a project team with a customer-focused approach, ensuring open communication and setting clear expectations. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including Estimating teams during the Preconstruction phase, and requires the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Mentorship of less experienced project management staff is also a key responsibility, as the Senior Project Manager will guide them in the daily duties necessary for effective project management. The Senior Project Manager will oversee subcontractor and vendor procurement, ensuring that all aspects of the buyout process, scope of work reviews, contract writing, and insurance and bonding reviews are completed efficiently. Additionally, the role includes managing the processing of all project-related documentation, such as Submittals, RFI's, Change Order Proposals, Owner Billings, and Monthly Reports. The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for verifying work-in-place quantities and ensuring accurate monthly cost projections, as well as overseeing the creation and monitoring of project schedules and progress updates.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Estimating during the Preconstruction phase.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Mentor less experienced Project Management staff on daily duties required to effectively manage a construction project.
  • Work with existing Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Subcontractors to establish long-term relationships for future project opportunities.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor procurement, including buyout, scope of work review, contract writing, and insurance and bonding reviews.
  • Guide the research and recommendation of resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, and errors.
  • Manage the team that processes all Submittals, RFI's, Change Order Proposals, Owner Billings, Time Sheet Management, Subcontractor/Vendor Billings, and Monthly Reports.
  • Ensure timely preparation of Owner Billings by verifying work-in-place quantities and billings from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Verify the production of accurate monthly cost projections forecasting total estimated costs at completion.
  • Oversee the creation and monitoring of Project Schedules and production of progress updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; relevant certifications or equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience managing commercial and/or hospitality construction projects, with ground-up experience required.
  • Broad knowledge of building systems and construction methods.
  • Strong financial management skills and the ability to independently manage all aspects of a project from start to finish.
