About the position

The Senior IT Project Manager at the Illinois Tollway is responsible for leading the Project Management Office (PMO) and overseeing the implementation of IT projects. This role involves ensuring that projects meet business requirements, are completed on time and within budget, and deliver value to clients. The Senior IT Project Manager will manage internal resources and vendor teams, coordinate project elements, and maintain communication with stakeholders to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Project Management Office (PMO) processes and ensure proper coordination of project elements.
• Manage project scope, ensuring all necessary work is included for successful project completion.
• Ensure timely completion of projects through effective time management processes.
• Maintain project budget and ensure completion within approved financial limits.
• Ensure project quality meets the needs for which it was undertaken through quality management processes.
• Effectively utilize human resources involved in the project, including planning and managing the project team.
• Manage project communications to ensure timely and appropriate information dissemination.
• Identify, analyze, and respond to project risks to mitigate potential issues.
• Adhere to change management principles to facilitate organizational change during system implementation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project management, particularly in IT projects.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in budget management and cost control.

Nice-to-haves

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Experience with organizational change management (OCM).
• Familiarity with the transportation or public sector industry.
