About the position

The Senior Project Manager for the Bruin Connect and Secure program at UCLA is responsible for leading project delivery and managing relationships with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of IT projects. This role focuses on unifying and securing campus networks while enhancing information security practices. The Senior Project Manager will oversee project plans, budgets, and resources, and will work closely with technical teams to implement network investments. This position aims to positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by leveraging data and insights to support the institution's academic mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery for the Bruin Connect and Secure program.
  • Form strong business relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Execute program and project management deliverables for UCLA.
  • Manage comprehensive project plans and control project scope.
  • Direct project budget resources towards the completion of deliverables.
  • Work closely with technical teams for successful deployment and integration of network investments.
  • Anticipate and assess campus needs for information technology products and design services accordingly.
  • Track project progress and ensure effective communication of project risks and issues.
  • Establish and advance positive working relationships with a diverse community of colleagues.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in project management, information technology, data services, application services, or IT service management.
  • Experience in a project-based environment using leading project management practices.
  • Experience in promoting an inclusive environment valuing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Thorough knowledge of project management principles and methods.
  • Ability to anticipate campus needs for IT products and design services to meet those needs.
  • Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and their organizational impact.
  • Demonstrated capacity to plan for contingencies and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex technical ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced organizational skills to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Seven or more years of experience in project management or related fields.
  • Experience in complex higher education environments.
  • One or more project management certifications such as PgMP, PfMP, Agile Scrum, LEAN Six Sigma, ITIL, or OCM.
