About the position

The position involves the development of an NDC implementation plan for Bolivia, focusing on the energy, forests, water, and agriculture sectors. This plan is a strategic and operational instrument that integrates climate commitments with prioritized actions in each sector, facilitating their fulfillment. The role includes identifying financial, technical, and regulatory gaps in the NDC actions and establishing a critical path for implementing climate actions while monitoring progress towards achieving the NDC targets. The consultant will oversee the execution of the project, ensuring alignment with the NDC 3.0 update and facilitating stakeholder participation throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day project execution and ensure objectives are met.
  • Provide technical inputs and timely revisions to project deliverables.
  • Monitor the work of four technical specialists and ensure compliance with their contracts.
  • Attend inception workshops and all related meetings for project execution.
  • Prepare narrative progress reports for the NDC Partnership and UNEP.
  • Facilitate coordination with the NDC 3.0 update team to ensure integration of updated targets into the NDC implementation plan.
  • Develop a stakeholder map to avoid duplicity with other initiatives.
  • Support the reactivation of the Water and Agricultural Sector Working Groups.
  • Prepare mid-term and final project evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental management, Agronomy, Public Administration, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Political Science, or a related field (Required).
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience in project management (Required).
  • Fluency in Spanish (Required).
  • Confident in English (Required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Postgraduate degree in a related field (Desirable).
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in climate change initiatives in Bolivia (Desirable).
  • Experience integrating gender considerations into projects (Desirable).
  • Demonstrated analytical capacity for developing technical products related to climate change (Desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of Bolivia's climate change regulatory framework (Desirable).
