About the position

The Senior Project Manager, PMO at Trane Technologies will play a pivotal role in leading multi-location, cross-functional teams to successfully deliver new Commercial HVAC products to market. This position is integral to the structured stage gate process, ensuring that new products align with specific customer requirements, program goals, timelines, and budgets. The Program Manager will take on P&L accountability for all New Product Development (NPD) activities through the product launch phase, ensuring that financial and operational targets are met. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will manage objectives and influence teams without direct authority, requiring strong leadership and communication skills. The individual will be expected to gain support from various stakeholders while maintaining schedule velocity. Leveraging product, project, technical, and investment stewardship leadership will be essential to ensure project success. The ability to navigate ambiguity and advocate for program efficiency will be crucial in finding scalable solutions for the team. The responsibilities encompass managing all aspects of projects from inception to completion, with direct accountability for project execution. This includes overseeing the administration, implementation, and management of control projects, while being responsible for the project's scope of work, schedule, and budget. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate/Lead program charter, scope, commercialization, requirements, risk, planning, schedule development.
  • Build strong relationships with program sponsors at all levels along with cross-functional ownership of NPD as a business process within the Industrial group.
  • Assess programs cross-functional resource requirements and proactively engage sponsors and functional leaders to fill resource gaps on a timely basis to ensure project success.
  • Manage NPD Program deliverables, risks and timing; utilize critical path management methodologies to manage schedule, scope and resource requirements.
  • Timely communication of project status to all stakeholders.
  • Review project proposals or plans to determine a time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and the assignment of available departmental resources to various project phases.
  • Drive fundamental activities from concept to performing as pertains to: Risk, Issue, Change Management, Resource Allocation, Resource visibility and reporting with key stakeholders.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.
  • Motivate a team to work together (without direct authority) towards a common goal and to achieve cooperation within the team while providing professional support, and ability to delegate with respect and ownership.
  • Establish a work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Review/approve the work plan of an external service provider or consultancy contracted to execute the project.
  • Implement a project communication plan, conduct risk assessment and mitigation, and monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality and integrity of information, while providing consistency in content and 'look and feel' across the organization.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to project personnel and define the scope of their authority.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel, and modify schedules or plans as required.

Requirements

  • BS in relevant Engineering Fields.
  • MS, MBA or Advance Program Management Accreditation preferred.
  • PMI PMP Certification preferred.
  • New Product (Design, Test, Supplier Readiness & Mfg Integration) Experience preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of project/program execution experience.
  • Scrum | Agile Methodology experience preferred.
