About the position

The Sr Project Manager - Engineering at HNTB is responsible for managing assigned Light Rail Transit (LRT), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and Rail projects throughout their full lifecycle. This includes developing project scope, preparing technical proposals, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing project delivery to ensure quality work is completed on time and within budget. The role requires proactive management of budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and client communications, while coordinating with internal and external partners to address design-related issues. The position typically involves managing multi-disciplinary project teams for mini-mega projects valued between $1M to $25M.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope and fee quotations, assisting in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison, managing the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion.
  • Lead client contract scoping and negotiations.
  • Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implement the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA).
  • Lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
  • Supervise and mentor project teams to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Oversee project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning.
  • Partner with Client Service Leaders to assist with business development and client relationship building.
  • Prepare proposal and presentation materials, leading proposal development and interview presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
