About the position

The Senior Project Manager at CenterPoint Energy will lead cross-functional and departmental strategic initiatives throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves gathering requirements, planning, scheduling, monitoring, and overseeing the execution of business projects to ensure value delivery and long-term sustainability. The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop project charters, manage multiple projects, and optimize resources to maximize business value, while also providing guidance to other project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the work of a team to achieve specific project goals and criteria within project constraints.
  • Assist in the development of project charters including scope, budget, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Collaborate with business partners and IT to manage all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project scope to ensure commitments are achieved within time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope and identify potential risks with contingencies.
  • Facilitate the development and management of project budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Develop communication plans to meet project objectives and ensure stakeholder awareness.
  • Publish periodic project status reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Leverage cross-functional relationships for successful project completion.
  • Manage large-scale projects with significant budgets and complex dependencies.
  • Utilize best practices in project management for advanced execution.
  • Work with the PMO team to improve project management methodologies and train others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of project management experience with cross-functional team projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP certification and agile experience.
  • Azure DevOps, MS Schedule (or equivalent) experience.
  • Agile Certification.
  • Utility (Elec/Gas), IT, Engineering Industry experience.
  • SAP Experience.
