About the position

The Senior Project Manager at EMI Industries is responsible for overseeing and managing projects related to custom millwork, metal, and refrigeration products. This role involves sourcing, planning, and executing projects while ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and woodworking, with a focus on developing customer relationships and delivering projects profitably.

Responsibilities

  • Understand EMI's manufactured products and components and their intended use in the field.
  • Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships, focusing on custom manufacturing expertise.
  • Clearly define and document all functions and responsibilities of the Division to deliver projects properly and profitably.
  • Assemble the project team, review the project plan, and obtain buy-in from all responsible parties before commencing activities.
  • Develop the quality and packaging plan for the entire project and share it with the team in a documented format.
  • Use Microsoft Project to create a project plan identifying deadlines and responsible parties for all key elements.
  • Ensure that all required approval drawings are submitted to the customer on time and that Engineering has all approved drawings when needed.
  • Manage project changes, revisions, and change order documents, making revisions in project tracking software.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of the project plan with the team.
  • Source and price projects in a timely manner and prepare cost estimates and custom quotations.
  • Coordinate inventory levels and deliveries of products and materials with the team.
  • Generate and log actual material usage and time studies of key elements within the program.
  • Coordinate orders and sales with shop supervisors and installation staff.
  • Maintain a communication log with the General Contractor or entities within the Customer's organization to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Proactively anticipate customer needs and solicit feedback on EMI performance.
  • Ensure all manufacturing divisions are working from the same set of Master Control Color Samples for non-standard finishes.
  • Identify and solve problems on-site and provide real-time progress reports from the plant to the job site.
  • Keep project files orderly and current.
  • Conduct a post-mortem on each project with the project team to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Knowledge or background with woodworking, including design, CAD, and shop experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience in project management.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and proficient basic math skills.
