About the position

The Senior Project Manager for Construction and Renovations at the University of South Carolina is responsible for overseeing and coordinating significant capital outlay projects within University Housing and Student Affairs. This role involves managing all phases of project performance, including planning, design, bidding, construction, and closeout, while acting as a client representative and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Execute development and coordination of major capital outlay projects through all phases including planning, design, bidding, construction, and closeout.
• Serve as a team leader for project managers, providing guidance and training on administrative processes and procedures.
• Communicate and coordinate project issues with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
• Execute project-specific activities such as assisting with the bid process, procuring services, and approving expenditures.
• Monitor and control contractual commitments to ensure compliance with project specifications and performance standards.
• Maintain knowledge of and implement University and industry requirements, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience in project management or related field.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of modern architecture, design engineering, and facility construction.
• Ability to oversee the work of subordinate engineers or architects and establish positive working relationships with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in engineering or related field and 1 year of related experience.
• Experience with state and federal laws governing architectural or civil engineering project management.
