About the position

The Senior Project Technical Specialist at GAI Consultants is a pivotal role within the Transportation and Infrastructure Unit's WV Roadway Design group, focusing on nonlicensed engineers. This position offers significant growth opportunities within a well-established multi-discipline engineering firm. The role involves leading complex engineering projects, developing standards and guidelines, and integrating advanced concepts such as sustainability into engineering solutions. The position can be based in multiple office locations and includes the potential for a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standards and guidelines for engineering projects.
  • Lead programs in the area of specialization.
  • Create design alternatives for complex engineering projects considering various constraints.
  • Integrate advanced concepts, including sustainability, into engineering solutions.
  • Oversee large or multidiscipline project teams.
  • Recommend necessary facilities, personnel, and funds for program execution.
  • Manage technical, legal, and financial issues of entire programs.
  • Develop comprehensive project management plans for complex engineering projects.
  • Implement teamwork, leadership, and principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in engineering solutions.
  • Determine program objectives and requirements.
  • Develop organizational policies and procedures.
  • Implement staff development plans, including technical and leadership skills.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of leaders and teams regarding diversity and inclusion concepts.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain extensive contacts with key engineers and officials.

Requirements

  • 16+ years of experience in engineering or related field.
  • B.S. in Engineering or other technical degree; Master's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Driver's License required.
  • Familiarity with NBIS Inspection practices.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Experience using Assetwise for Inspection reporting.
  • Understanding of typical bridge inventory item coding.
  • Experience with inspection coordination among various stakeholders.
  • Certified NBIS team leader or capable of becoming one within 3 months.
