About the position

As a Propulsion Engineer at Blue Origin, you will play a crucial role in advancing the company's vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. This position involves collaborating with a diverse team of experts to deliver liquid rocket engine assemblies and spaceflight hardware, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from initial requirements to final delivery. You will be responsible for providing design releases for various components and systems, while also engaging in root cause analysis and supporting hardware non-conformances. Your work will require balancing technical challenges and exercising sound judgment to inform solutions that support safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technically mature liquid rocket engine assemblies and spaceflight hardware.
  • Provide new or revised design releases for primary/secondary structures, heat exchangers, gimbal joints, flexible elements, insulation, and pressurized cryogenic fluid systems.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Propulsion Engineers from adjacent groups.
  • Support hardware non-conformances and root cause analysis.
  • Mentor, train, and collaborate with peers on various assignments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle component/assembly design, manufacturing, and test.
  • Strong mechanical design skills, including initial sizing/analysis/calculations.
  • Proficiency in CAD and large assembly model management (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM preferred).
  • Knowledgeable with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing processes.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the design, production, manufacturing, and assembly of rocket propulsion hardware.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
