About the position

As a Senior Propulsion Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Propulsion Integrated Design team, focusing on the Aeon-R engine. This position involves the overall layout, design, analysis, and build of hardware for our propulsion systems. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including propulsion, vehicle, manufacturing, integration, and testing, to ensure that our designs are optimized for performance and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include turning 2D engine schematics into 3D realities, managing the design and analysis of integration components such as manifolds, ducts, and structural elements. You will utilize fluid and structural analytical models to inform your designs, weighing factors such as weight, cost, lead time, and part count in your decision-making process. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in ambiguous situations and can lead projects to completion. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall layout, design, analysis, and build of hardware for Aeon-R propulsion systems.
  • Collaborate with propulsion teams, vehicle teams, manufacturing/integration teams, and test teams to design, analyze, and optimize propulsion systems.
  • Utilize fluid and structural analytical models to inform designs.
  • Manage the design and analysis of integration components including manifolds, ducts, and structural elements.
  • Weigh engine assembly level layouts and trades against weight, cost, lead time, and part count.
  • Lead projects to completion in an ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a complex engineering system.
  • Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software.
  • Strong mechanical design fundamentals.
  • Understanding of fluid, thermal, and structural fundamentals.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Strong drive to deliver on ambitious schedules.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and exhibiting follow-through.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience with large CAD model management, change management, and configuration management.
  • Experience in the design of liquid propulsion components and systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (AS, NAS, SAE, etc.).
