About the position

The Senior Propulsion Test Engineer at Relativity Space plays a crucial role in the development and testing of propulsion systems for the Terran R launch vehicle. This position involves overseeing the design, testing, and integration of combustion devices and other engine subsystems, contributing to the rapid development of innovative aerospace technology. The engineer will work collaboratively with various teams to execute test plans, troubleshoot systems, and enhance operational efficiency, all while supporting the company's ambitious goals in aerospace and additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Responsible Engineer for various propulsion test articles such as combustion devices, valves, and heat exchangers.
  • Develop test plans and execute test campaigns in collaboration with the Stennis team.
  • Evaluate test hardware behavior to support continuous engine development and certification.
  • Support engine subsystem troubleshooting and partner team product investigations.
  • Take ownership of projects aimed at increasing collective efficiency.
  • Participate in stage test and flight campaigns as the vehicle development program progresses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a complex engineering system development and/or test environment.
  • Experience in engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with test operations environments.
  • Experience with combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation.
