About the position

The Senior Public Health Technical Writer will be responsible for creating a variety of written materials related to public health, including guidance documents, policies, reports, and communication materials. This role requires collaboration with subject matter experts and the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences. The position supports ongoing COVID-19 public health initiatives and requires a strong background in public health writing and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research/data into briefings and reports.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop guidance and policy documents.
  • Determine the clearest way to present information for broad audience understanding.
  • Communicate regularly with various health departments and agencies regarding guidance and policy.
  • Review and copy edit content developed by team members.
  • Develop presentations and slide decks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in public health or healthcare.
  • Extensive experience writing complex technical documents such as guidance and policy documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of public health issues, including science-based and emerging issues.
  • Advanced research and fact verification skills.
  • Experience developing presentations and slide decks.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, or other visual platforms.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to tailor documents for various stakeholders.
  • Advanced interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep understanding of public health principles, epidemiology, and public health program management.
