About the position

The position focuses on enhancing Bancorp's strategic initiatives through effective communication with various stakeholders, including media, employees, customers, shareholders, and the general public. The role involves developing relationships with media and community leaders, managing executive communications, and overseeing reputation management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with national, local, and regional media.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local business and community leaders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Fifth Third business-line, philanthropic, and staff department officers.
  • Deliver, develop, and ratify reputation management strategy/position for a variety of issues.
  • Develop strategic executive communications to a variety of audiences, through various mediums.
  • Manage all 'Office of the President' communications.
  • Manage and develop award nominations for Bancorp executives; promote Bancorp award winners through various media.
  • Monitor overall Bancorp award nominations recommendations.
  • Prepare remarks, speeches, and presentations for President & CEO and other executive staff.
  • Act as project manager and editor of customer communications such as Bancorp Community Investment Annual Report.
  • Lead strategic priorities and group initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of current banking trends to provide timely and accurate responses when necessary.
  • Develop key messages, talking points, and other materials for CEO and leadership team, staff interviews with CEO and leadership team, when necessary.
  • Prepare news releases for the Bank and work with line managers to develop story ideas for proactive media placement.
  • Develop strategic communications plans to support lines of business and Bancorp staff functions.
  • Arrange interviews with print and broadcast media.
  • Provide support to Director of Corporate Communications regarding M&A and other Bancorp strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in corporate communications or public relations.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for various communication mediums.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with media and community leaders.
  • Experience in managing executive communications and reputation management strategies.
  • Knowledge of current banking trends and issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing award nominations and promotions.
  • Familiarity with strategic communications planning.
  • Experience in project management within a corporate communications context.
